1:00PM 2:30PM Community Outreach Sessions The George Oliver Performing Arts Magnet Elementary School and W.A. Higgins Academy of Arts and International Studies will conduct a series of Community Outreach “Let’s Talk” Sessions to create a “true” partnership between the home and school to support students who attend the two schools. These dialogue sessions will embrace parents as partners in the education of their children; allow parents to share concerns about their needs from the schools; learn what parents indicate their children need from the schools; and identify what the schools need from the parents and the children. “Let’s Talk” 1½ Hour Sessions l be held for parents in Willow Park, Magnolia Courts and surrounding residents at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 520 Ritchie Avenue in Clarksdale. In addition to the dialogue, parent participants will receive incentives, door prizes and materials for the parents and their students. These sessions will be the first in a series of meetings for these sites, and future sessions are planned for Jack Johnson Estates, Benny Gooden Estates, and Oakhurst.
