Following a weekend of tower demolition and reconstruction AM 1450 WROX’s
General Manager Shawn McIntire is happy to announce “Clarksdale’s Hometown
Station” has returned to full power.
A band of strong storms that rocked the Delta on May 6th caused extensive
damage throughout the region, including destroying part of the AM 1450 WROX
tower. That morning a 25 to 30 foot section of WROX’s broadcast tower was
torn off by the high winds that accompanied the heavy rains.
Following the damage sustained to the broadcast tower engineers and tower
crews worked around the clock to make repairs. During which time WROX was
reduced to broadcasting at low power. McIntire says, “Thank you to the
listeners who continue their support, and the local businesses who continue
to advertise with Clarksdale’s Hometown Station. It’s only through the
support of these businesses that WROX can continue to broadcast 24 hours a
day. Playing Rock and Soul’s greatest hits, as well keeping the public
informed with local and national news, in addition to programming unique to
Clarksdale such as the Saturday Night Blues Block, featuring 2009 Blues
Award winner Roger Stolle’s “Cat Head Delta Blues Program”. Thanks again for
all your support” McIntire assures listeners “…there are more upgrades and
surprises coming very soon…” to WROX. |
